This past weekend, I attended an awesome workshop. It was titled “Make your own self Oracle.” A talented Art Therapist, Roxie Ehlert, hosted it.

So we got there a group of about 15 beautiful souls and we jumped right in.
Roxie started off by reading a letter she wrote to us about her story of the Self-Oracle.
She talked about how the first of the month signaled a new beginning for her. It was a chance to start off with a clean slate. Shifting with the seasons starting over and trying again.
She experienced some hardships. She developed this process to give a gift to herself at the beginning of the month. It is something visual yet loving. It serves as gentle reminders to self.
Roxie then created the idea of 12 “Theme” Cards. She also introduced 12 “Affirmation” cards to include a 3rd card from a beloved tarot deck. She turned all the cards upside down and mixed them around. Then randomly without looking, she selected a theme card. She also picked an affirmation card and a tarot card. She sealed them in separate envelopes to be opened on the first of the month during the year.
Roxie explained how this process allowed her to regain her love of firsts. A sweet little love reminder to herself that held incredible magic. Every month, the cards worked together. They provided divine intervention for whatever was traversing her life. This left her catching her breath or finding herself in tears.
The Self-Oracle process deepened her relationship to her own wisdom in unexpected ways. She didn’t think this was possible even in moments of disorientation and uncertainty. Now she is blessing the rest of us with this process. Roxie created this meaningful tool for growth and self-love. In her words fostering self-trust and the feeling of being held by something bigger than you.

We were instructed to bring our calendars or journals from the past year and write out reflections from last year. We listed words and phrases of things we aimed to achieve the year before. Then, we noted themes that be attributed to these goals.
I began reviewing my journal from the prior year. I discovered many initiatives I had started in my journey of transformation. I was still working hard to achieve these. I reflected on many and felt proud to be strong in them.

The themes just start pouring out from the pages of my journal:
Self Awareness, Meditation, Mindfulness, Shifting, Transformation, Gratitude, Manifesting Change, High Vibration, Love Myself, Honesty, Boundaries, Spirituality, Trust Myself.
We imagined new things. We wanted to work on these new ideas. I listed these words:
Inviting change, Fuel my future, Travel, new friends, trusting the process Be healthy, new experiences, resist fear, follow you intuition, break the cycle, healing, sleep, let go
Next I wrote some affirmations:
I allow space for my anger
I forgive myself
I release blame
I choose myself today
I allow myself to grieve
I love value and honor myself
I have gratitude
I will go to war to have peace
I keep ascending
I keep pushing along
I will answer my universal call
Then some new themes:
Vulnerability
Pleasure
Connection
Gentle
Magic
Balance
Repair
Protect
Move
Rest
Receive
Embody
Adapt
Explore
Desire
Grief
Co-regulate
These are my lists of course, so welcome to the pages of my journal. Everyone had their own beautiful out pourings of growth, change and love for themselves.
Roxie provided boards on the walls. You write out your thoughts and share them. Others then take these ideas for their own.

Next comes the fun part. There was an art table full of anything you can think of to create a fun collage on paper. Glue, paint, magazines even a type writer. We got to work making the collage that would eventually be cut out into card size love notes.
These were mine:

I then cut these into card size bits

Followed by little strips of paper in which I wrote out my themes and affirmations in some equal fashion. I had way more than 12. I figured this year I use a lot of love messages each month!

Once my little masterpieces were done, I turned them over. I chose a few themes and affirmations. I paired them up and anonymously stuffed them in these tiny envelopes. They were just the perfect little envelopes to create my own magical first of the month messages.

and well there you have it, The Self-Oracle process in a long winded blog post. Now you too can do this self love exercise for yourself.
