the sound bath

By

Have any of you ever been on a sound healing journey? If not, you are thinking, “Yea, every time I take a bath and jam out to music.” But no, really, this is something completely different.

Sound journeys are a transformative type of sound therapy. They blend hypnotic language with musical composition. The design aims to invoke a vivid mental landscape. This enhances inner exploration. It also shifts emotion, thought patterns, and perspective. This therapy includes a combination of crystal sound bowls, chimes, and gongs. It can involve Native American flute, guided meditation, and much more, depending on your sound practitioner. Producing a immersive soundscape.

The human body is made up a good percentage of water which is a good conductor of sound. The vibrations resonate with the body’s natural frequencies, which can help you feel more balanced and in harmony. Low-frequency sounds can slow your heart rate, lower your blood pressure, and reduce muscle tension.

Everything in the universe vibrates, including atoms, cells, and entire organisms. Resonant frequency is the natural frequency at which an object vibrates most easily. For humans, this frequency ranges from 5 to 20 Hz. When exposed to vibrations matching their resonant frequency, objects can absorb more energy and vibrate more strongly.

The sound journeys I most enjoy are hosted by Tammy and Anthony Chino. The Chino’s are two beautiful humans here in Albuquerque, New Mexico. They bring healing and community to those who need it most.

Anthony and Tammy have really harnessed the power of sound through these immersive experiences. They incorporate many instruments. These instruments enhance the sound journey experience.

Last September I attended the Tribal Festival at Tico Time resort. There, the Chinos hosted the most beautiful sound bath in the yurt. During a sound bath, you often start with a guided meditation. You also focus on words of intention during your journey or an Affirmation to lift up your thoughts and energy. One major advantage that sound bath fans rave about is its ability to relax you. In this state, your body releases endorphins, serotonin, dopamine, oxytocin, and norepinephrine. These feel-good chemicals make us happy and help move us out of the fight or flight stress response.

If you have never experienced a sound bath I encourage you to give it a try. Its an experience like no other that will only enlighten your life. There are many sound practitioners in your city, just a quick google and you will find one. If someone invites you don’t pass it up.

In the meantime, feel free to enjoy this recording of a recent sound bath I attended hosted by the Chinos.

The perfect timing is right now.
